OBJECTIVE： To explore the prescription evaluation mode of Clinical Medication Decision Support （CMDS） software screening combined with manual review， and to improve the safety of clinical use of Chinese patent medicine. METHODS： CMDS software was used to primarily screen the rationality of Chinese patent medicine prescription in our hospital during Mar. 11th-20th 2017. The information sent by the software was manually checked by the pharmacists of the prescription review team. The results of irrational drug use were determined and grading was adjusted. RESULTS： CMDS software sent 3 560 tips of irrational drug use for 2 411 Chinese patent medicine prescriptions. After pharmacist review， there were 279 irrational prescriptions， with irrational rate of 2.37％. Among them， irrational drug use of 92 prescriptions was manually adjusted as “important tips”. CONCLUSIONS： The prescription of Chinese patent medicine in our hospital is generally reasonable. However，there still are contraindications， repeated medication and other issues. Currently， the application of information technology in prescription rationality screening for Chinese patent medicine is still at its early stage of exploration. The evaluation results are still not accurate enough， and there are many invalid reminders. The prescriptions should be reviewed by pharmacists based on practice. With the upgrading and optimization of software， the initial screening of CMDS software combined with manual review of pharmacists will become an important mode for the evaluation of Chinese patent medicines.
