OBJECTIVE: To provide reference for guaranteeing the safe and effective use of neonatal intravenous drug. METHODS: The work mode of centralized dispensing for neonatal intravenous drug in PIVAS of our hospital were introduced. RESULTS: After reviewed by pharmacists in charge of medical order review, unified batch arrangement, label printing and labeling of neonatal intravenous drug medical order were conducted in our hospital. The number of medical orders were counted according to route of administration (intravenous drip or intravenous infusion), and transferred to pharmacists for drug dispensing. The methods of drug pre-dispensing included concentration centralized pre-dispensing method, single bottle quantitative pre-dispensing method and final concentration centralized pre-dispensing method, etc. After dispensing, the quality of finished products was rechecked by the dispensing staff in dispensing room, the final dose was checked by pharmacists outside dispensing room. In addition, distribution personnel gave priority to distribution of each batch of neonatal drugs after packaged. CONCLUSIONS: The centralized dispensing for neonatal intravenous drug in PIVAS not only improves the quality of drug dispensing, guarantee safe and effective use of neonatal intravenous drugs, but also saves human resources and improves the quality of nursing.
