OBJECTIVE: To establish the method for simultaneous determination of liquiritin and glycyrrhizic acid in Fuzi lizhong pills (condensed pills). METHODS: HPLC method was adopted. The determination was performed on WondaSil C18 column with mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile-0.05% phosphate solution (gradient elution) at the flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The detection wavelength was set at 237 nm, and column temperature was 35 ℃. The sample size was 10 μL. RESULTS: The linear range of liquiritin and glycyrrhizic acid were 9.68-96.8 μg/mL(r=0.999 1)and 14.08-140.8 μg/mL(r=0.999 2). The limits of quantitation were 0.2, 0.3 μg/mL, and the limits of detection were 0.1, 0.01 μg/mL. RSDs of precision, stability and reproducibility tests were all lower than 2.0%. The average recoveries were 98.9%-101.2%(RSD=0.62%,n=9),98.6%-101.5%(RSD=1.06%,n=9). CONCLUSIONS: The method is simple and accurate, and can be used for simultaneous determination of liquiritin and glycyrrhizic acid in Fuzi lizhong pills (condensed pills).
