OBJECTIVE： To provide reference for geoherbalism and quality study of Hedysarum polybotrys from Micang. METHODS： Using “hongqi”“Micang”“Wudu hongqi”“daodixing”“daodi yaocai”“yanjiu xianzhuang”“shengzhang xixing”“Radix Hedysari”“Geoherbalism”“Geoherbs” as keywords， related literatures were inquired from PubMed， CNKI， Wanfang， VIP and other databases during Jan. 1990-Sept. 2016. The geoherbalism of Chinese herbal medicine and the reasons for geoherbalism of H. polybotrys from Micang were analyzed and studied. RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS： 128 related literatures were retrieved， including 28 effective ones. The formation of famous region herbal medicine is related to suitable natural environment， excellent germplasm， special harvesting and processing of production area， unique chemical composition and other factors. H. polybotrys from Gansu Micang is called famous region herbal medicine which is closely related to a big yield and profound history and culture except for the formation reasons of famous region herbal medicine.
