OBJECTIVE: To establish a method for simultaneous determination of magnolol and honokiol in Guipo pellet. METHODS: HPLC was performed on the column of Alltima C18 with mobile phase of methanol-water (70 ∶ 30,V/V) at a flow rate at 1.0 ml/min, detection wavelength was 294 nm, column temperature was 35 ℃ and injection volume was 10 μl. RESULTS: The linear range was 0.206 4-2.064 μg for magnolol (r=0.999 8) and 0.088 0-0.880 μg for honokiol (r=0.999 9); limits of quantitation were 0.41, 0.26 μg/ml, detection limits were 0.12, 0.075 μg/ml, respectively; RSDs of precision, stability and reproducibility tests were lower than 2.0%; recoveries were 99.86%-102.11% (RSD=1.02%,n=6) and 96.53%-101.74% (RSD=1.83%,n=6). CONCLUSIONS: The method is accurate, sensitive, reproducible, and suitable for the simultaneous determination of magnolol and honokiol in Guipo pellet.
