OBJECTIVE： To reduce the dispensing error rate of automatic drug dispensing machine， and to promote the safety of drug use. METHODS： Through quality control circle （QCC） activity， the reasons for the dispensing errors of automatic drug dispensing machine were analyzed to formulate relevant improvement measures. Tangible achievement and intangible achievement were evaluated before and after QCC activity. RESULTS： The dispensing errors of automatic drug dispensing machine mainly included prescription entry error and bagging error， etc. The main reasons contained human factor， software and hardware factor. A series of countermeasures were adopted， such as staff training， propaganda and communication， adjusting the position and size of machine parts and the number of drugs， increasing drug checking. The error rate of automatic drug dispensing machine was reduced from 1.806％ to 0.397％. The intangible achievement increased positively. Standard flow chart was formulated for each operation item. CONCLUSIONS： QCC can effectively reduce dispensing error of automatic drug dispensing machine and improve pharmaceutical care.
