OBJECTIVE: To explore the methods of effective communication between Pharmacy intravenous admixture service (PIVAS) and clinical departments so as to play the pharmaceutical care role of PIVAS and serve clinical departments better. METHODS: By comprehensively analyzing the familiar communication problems happened during daily work between PIVAS and clinical departments,the most possible reasons which might lead to the conflicts were found to summarize the best communication strategy. RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS: Main reasons for the contradiction between PIVAS and clinical departments included that clinical departments were not familiar with the procedure of PIVAS; PIVAS showed poor service quality, bad attitude, drug distribution behind time or to wrong department, imperfect software and other aspects. It is effective measures for solving the contradiction to strengthen communication pointedly, know each other completely, improve the quality of pharmaceutical care in PIVAS, improve service attitude, intervene in batch arrangement of intravenous drug, optimize dispensing and distribution procedure, improve the system and cover the shortage of PIVAS software. PIVAS aims at providing better pharmaceutical care for clinical departments by corresponding measures which will reduce the contradiction between PIVAS and clinical departments and communicate with clinical departments smoothly.
