OBJECTIVE: To provide reference for reforming the training mode of pharmaceutical master of business administration in Chinese colleges and universities. METHODS: The HSM in University of Boston and the Pharmaceutical Enterprise Management (Master) in China Pharmaceutical University and Shenyang Pharmaceutical University were selected to compare the training mode in aspects of training target, course setting, teaching method and practice. RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS: HSM in University of Boston paid more attention to practice and innovative thinking, the courses were high-strength, targeted, progressive layer by layer and international, using a variety of teaching methods and rich practical teaching resources. China Pharmaceutical University and Shenyang Pharmaceutical University showed poor training for management thinking and ability; the courses were mainly for research ability, but less emphasis on the application of management theory and method; there were also insufficient diversification of teaching methods and lower students’ participation; practice and practice resources had not been fully integrated and so on. HSM training mode in University of Boston can provide reference for the training mode of pharmaceutical master of business administration in Chinese colleges and universities.
