OBJECTIVE: To discuss the role of clinical pharmacist in drug therapy for patients with Parkinson’s disease and cerebral infarction. METHODS: Clinical pharmacists participated in drug therapy for a patient with Parkinson’s disease and cerebral infarction; analyzed the factors as Parkinson’s disease, cerebral infarction and hypertension; put forward drug therapy suggestions and developed discharged medication card. When the patient suffered from psychotic disorder such as illusion and anxiety after treated with madopa, clinical pharmacists suggested using pramipexole dihydrochloride 0.125 mg, po, tid to treat psychotic disorder; madopa 125 mg, po, tid; irbesartan 150 mg, po, qd and hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg, po, qd for blood pressure control. RESULTS: The physicians adopted the suggestions of clinical pharmacists. Parkinsonian symptoms was improved, and blood pressure was controlled well after treatment. The patient was discharged from the hospital after recovery. CONCLUSIONS: Clinical pharmacists participate in drug therapy for patients with multiple diseases and assist physicians to improve medication regimen to improve therapeutic efficacy and the safety of drug use.
