OBJECTIVE: To study the chemical constituents in Styrax tonkinensis. METHODS: The chemical constituents in S. tonkinensis was separated and purified by silica gel, medium pressure RP-18, Sephadex LH-20, semi-preparative HPLC, and the compound structure was analyzed and identified based on the physicochemical properties and spectral data. RESULTS: 6 compounds were separated from B.Styracis, namely Bis (2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (1), 1-O-methy-guaiacylglycerol (2), Threo-5-hydroxy-3, 7-dimethoxyphenylpropane-8, 9-diol (3), Benzoic acid (4), Vanillic acid (5) and Vanillin (6). CONCLUSIONS: Compound 1, 2 and 3 are isolated from S. tonkinensis for the first time, and the study has laid a certain foundation for its quality evaluation.
