OBJECTIVE: To provide reference for rational drug use in leprosy patients. METHODS: We counted and analyzed the age and gender of the patients, prescription amount, the diagnosis, the usage of higher rates of use of antibacterials and NSAIDs drugs of 2 692 prescriptions in pharmacy of hanzhong sanatorium from January 2013 to September 2014. RESULTS: Among 2 155 patients, the patients aged ≥61 accounted for 68.08% and males accounted for 75.27%. The average amount of prescription was 20.02 yuan. The top three diseases were leprosy ulcers, upper respiratory tract infection and leprosy ophthalmopathy. The utilization rate of antimicrobial were 37.03%. The utilization rates of NSAIDs for joint damage, leprosy ulcers and leprosy ophthalmopathy which were all caused by Bacillus leprae were 94.26%(115/122), 42.25%(169/400) and 16.73%(45/269), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: There is a certain abuse of antibacterials. It’s suggested to stiengthen spreading of antibacterial knownledge, and physicians should choose NSAIDs with definite efficacy and less ADR based on the characteristics of long-term drug use.
